31 Days of Halloween Music - Day 1

Typically my annual tradition for Halloween is to post a horror-themed song for every day of October; however, this year I’ve decided to change things up a bit. During Halloween we celebrate the dead and one day a year (although excessive party people have turned into the whole weekend), we get to don a costume and reveal our true selves – any wonder why slutty outfits do so well? Others of us dress as just to have some fun, so I’ve decided to post not just the traditional fright songs, but also cover songs of artists honoring those that inspired them. These are today’s offerings -

A song that reminds us that we dress appropriately in accordance with society's standards and very rarely our own; everyday we don a costume to keep our jobs and a mask to satisfy the masses that we would sooner punch in the face than give the time of day.

Next, is a classic tune from The Police that was rewritten by the heavy metal Bay Area band Machine Head. While remaining true to the original, Machine Head inflict their own crushing guitar sounds and haunting vocals. Taken of The Burning Red album, which is considered by the band as a desperate attempt by their record label to force them into commercialism to which they sadly followed along. There are still many fans of this album, but they lost a growing fan-base but returned to their thrashing roots two albums later with Through the Ashes of Empires which became their most successful selling album and they've never looked back.
